Neuroscience is the study of the nervous system with a primary focus on the brain. Neuroscience has now proven that the human brain is much like plastic, and can be re-shaped, remolded, retrained, and re-programmed as long as we live. The Neuroscience Method® uses mind-training, unique tools to avoid stuttering, and extensive reading aloud to rewire the brain for fluency.
Because a severe stuttering disorder can be extremely hard to break, the belief that stuttering is an “incurable disorder” has been long accepted. However, neuroplasticity has never been leveraged to treat stuttering, and our discovery of its effectiveness is unprecedented.
While stuttering may, or may not, involve a genetic predisposition, the Neuroscience Method® focuses on replacing the deeply ingrained stuttering habit with the fluency habit. Over time and with countless hours of mind training and fluency repetition, our method breaks the stuttering habit, and we believe that even genetic predispositions can be neurologically erased.
The stuttering disorder actually involves five regions of the brain: 1. the Broca region (involved in language production, speech motor planning, and aspects of grammar and syntax); 2. the amygdala (processes emotions, especially fear and threat detection); 3. the basil ganglia (involved in motor control, action selection, procedural learning, cognition, and emotion); 4. the motor cortex (involved in planning, controlling, and executing voluntary movements); and 5. the hippocampus (responsible for memory formation and spatial navigation).
The foundation of The Neuroscience Method® are its three pillars, or 1-2-3 punches: 1. Speech Tools (to eliminate hearing stuttering); 2. Reading Aloud w/Fluency (to flood the mind with fluency memories); and 3. Mind Training (to address conscious and subconscious rewiring of the mind).
The 1-2-3 punch addresses all five brain regions involved in the stuttering process.
The key to The Neuroscience Method® is the consistency of practice. Clearly, retraining the mind cannot be done sporadically and from time to time. It must be done frequently, consistently, and preferably daily. Therefore, persons who stutter must commit themselves to the process and, in so doing, can and will stop stuttering and create the fluency they have always wanted.

The Neuroscience Method® to Stop Stuttering was developed by Lee Lovett, an EX-stutterer who stopped his stuttering by age 30 and overcame fears of speaking and learned to love to speak in all situations by age 40. Lee used a combination of (1) mind-training methods (including auto suggestions and self-hypnosis), (2) massive talking in his stutter-free-zones and listening to recordings of himself when fluent and reading aloud, and (3) using certain strategies, methods, tools to avoid appearing speech disabled. The foregoing one-two-three punch enabled him to speak fluently many hours every day, and not appear speech disabled for weeks and months at a time; thus, he gradually simply forgot to stutter. His stuttering died from disuse. He literally replaced his stutter-habit with a fluency-habit. Lee continued to practice his fluent speech and became a very successful public speaker in his profession. He never relapsed and has been stutter-free for forty years.
In the ensuing four decades, as a labor of love, Lee devoted his spare time to helping people who stutter (PWS) stop stuttering. In 2016, he released his first of eight stuttering-related books, explaining his core methods. Being long retired, he then began to provide Private Stuttering Therapy sessions seven days a week, while continually honing his methods, then revising his books with better and clearer explanations of techniques and how to leverage neuroplasticity. To date, Lee has given some 10,000 private therapy sessions, all at no charge, and several hundred of his students, as Lee calls them, have stopped stuttering. Lee has now trained a team of Certified Stuttering Specialists (all EX-stutterers) to provide private stuttering therapy to persons who stutter.
